COREY BRINSON, REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE FOR CONNECTICUT SECRETARY OF THE STATE, WILL NOT PRIMARY AND ENDORSES JERRY FARRELL

Hartford, Connecticut – May 24, 2010 – Republican candidate for Secretary of the State, Attorney Corey Brinson, of Bloomfield, will not hold a primary this August against Commissioner Jerry Farrell. “It is with great enthusiasm that I ask all of my supporters around Connecticut and all 500 delegates who voted for my candidacy to support Jerry Farrell for Secretary of the State,” said Corey Brinson from his law firm in Hartford. Brinson continued, “Jerry has the experience, broad support, and work ethic to defeat the Democratic candidate for Secretary of the State this fall. I look forward to campaigning for Jerry this summer and through Election Day because I know that he is the best person to bring the Secretary of the State’s office into the 21st Century.”

“I know that there will be many people who will be disappointed by my difficult decision. But Republicans in Connecticut are outnumbered by Democrats and we need a united front to win back many of the constitutional offices. It is more important to me that we elect a Republican who will fight to end the unnecessary taxes and fees imposed on struggling businesses than it is to elect me for Secretary of the State. My time will be better spent working hard for Republican candidates throughout Connecticut. Having won in traditionally Republican towns such as Enfield, Avon, and Greenwich and Democratic strongholds like Hartford and Bridgeport my broad coalition of support will be an asset to a number of candidates,” declared a sincere Brinson.

“I am 30 years old and I will have another opportunity in the future to campaign for any number of offices. The additional experience from this campaign, coupled with the friends and alliances I continue to make will serve me well in the future. I am committed to supporting the Republican Party. I am honored to offer my support to Jerry going forward,” said Corey Brinson, who was encouraged by coming up only 144 delegate votes short, out of 1,287 votes cast, of winning the Republican endorsement.

Corey Brinson began his campaign for Secretary of the State on June 26, 2009, and attracted hundreds of donors and thousands of supporters throughout Connecticut and won 40% of the convention vote.
